                                         Old English (5th-11th centuries)

                                        Example Sentences:
                                        Hwær gæst þu, mīn wine?" ("Where are you going, my friend?")
                                        "Ic gæ to þæm tūne" ("I'm going to the town")
                                         Examples of Old English words still in use:
                                        - Father (from Old English "fæder")
                                        - Mother (from Old English "mōdor")
                                         Middle English (11th-15th centuries)
                                        Example Sentence:
                                        "Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote." ("When April with its showers
                                        sweet.")
                                        Examples of Middle English words still in use:
                                        - Castle (from French "castel")
                                        - Governor (from Latin "gubernator")
