'Samarpan 25' Celebrated with Grandeur and Glory!




Silver Hills Public School, Kozhikode, ignited a spectacular celebration, marking its annual day, 'Samarpan', with unbridled enthusiasm and zeal on Friday, January 10, 2025. The event, held on a specially designed stage in the campus quadrangle, was graced by the distinguished presence of renowned playback singer Biju Narayanan and Rev. Dr. Biju John Vellakkada CMI as chief guests.

As the curtains drew open, the evening unfolded into a rich tapestry of thought-provoking speeches, soul-stirring melodies by Biju Narayanan, and spectacular cultural programs crafted by the students, culminating in a heartfelt honoring ceremony. This grand celebration was a testament to the school's enduring legacy of excellence.

As part of 'Samarpan', the school paid tribute to two towering personalities in the realms of literature and music, the late M.T. Vasudevan Nair and P. Jayachandran, whose indelible mark on Malayalam literature and music continues to inspire generations.

Inaugurating the event, Biju Narayanan delivered a poignant commemorative speech on P. Jayachandran, describing him as a shining star in the musical firmament, blessed with an emotionally evocative voice. He shared personal anecdotes, including Jayachandran's unwavering support during his late wife's illness. Biju Narayanan lauded Silver Hills' tradition of balancing academic excellence with cultural pursuits.

Biju Narayanan's soulful rendition of Jayachandran's iconic song 'Manjalayil Mungithorthi' left the audience spellbound. Kerala CBSE School Kalotsav winner Nived Krishna of class VI also paid a heartfelt tribute to Jayachandran with his rendition of "Harsha Bashpam Choodi." School Staff Secretary KC Shaijal recalled the legacy of P. Jayachandran.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Biju John Vellakkada CMI, Provincial of St. Thomas Province, delivered the benevolent speech, emphasizing the need to equip oneself to face the challenges of modernization. "The ultimate goal of education should be to make life beautiful. Live with gratitude and goodness. Spread light, however small," he appealed to the students.

Rev. Fr. Augustine K. Mathew CMI, manager of Silver Hills institutions, presided over the event, while the school principal, Rev. Fr. Mathew Kalapurayil CMI, delivered the welcome address. Academic coordinator Ms. Aditi Chatterjee and PTA president Mr. Madhusudhanan K extended their felicitations. KG PTA president Dr. Jeslin V. James presented mementos to the chief guests. Ms. Chithra Anna Thomas, teacher in English, presented a meticulously crafted School Annual Report digitally on behalf of the Principal, with skillful technical support from Mr. Rajeesh K of the  Department of IT and Technical wing.

The event also honored outstanding teachers and students. Retiring teachers Ms. Jessy, Ms. Sreeja, and Ms. Jyothi Krishnanunni were felicitated with awards. Trainers who contributed to the school's triumph at the state arts festival—Anand, Hanna, Shashidharan, Koya Gurukkal, Majeesh Karyad, Sabu George, Sebastian, Suresh, Vijesh KV, and Muneer—were presented with tokens of gratitude.

Students excelling in academics, arts, and sports were also honored during the event. The awardees included Alaina S., Anvitha TK, Anvitha A., Jiya Susan, Azra Riyaz, Ardhra M., Nayana Nair, Noral, Tessa John, Ashik S., Anushka Deepak, Jahan Joby, Alia, Nived Krishna, Hazel Ann, Vignesh Krishna, Samveditha Sunil, Vaishakh M., Mayookha Binil, Mayookha Sujesh, Ardhra Nair, Steve Chris, Anoushka Pradosh, and Avani Jayadev.

The cultural programs that followed were a testament to the students' creativity and talent. As part of the cultural session, tributes were paid to the legendary Malayalam writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair, who passed away recently. The event featured 'Vasudevam', a unique dance performance that paid tribute to M.T. Vasudevan Nair's timeless characters.

The innovative choreography, designed by SHPS Dance Faculty Ms. Shabna, brought M.T.'s immortal works to life through a medley of iconic songs from films scripted by him. The dance drama began with the song "Oru Murikkanadiyil Onnu Nokki" from the movie 'Valarthumrigangal', for which M.T. himself wrote the lyrics. This was followed by the re-enactment of around ten popular M.T. film songs,
 including 'Kalarivilakku', 'Chembakappoo mottinullil', 'Kunnathe Konnaykk', "Indupushpam', 'Olichirikkan', 'Anuraga Vilochananayi', and 'Dundum Dundum Dundubi Nadam'.

The evening's cultural extravaganza also included 'Arikomban', a dance exploring the psychological conflict between elephants and humans; 'Tragic Torrent - Wayanad an Awakening', a drama by Vikesh KV and Kabani, depicting human resilience and revival against the backdrop of the Chooralmala disaster in Wayanad. Spectacular Dance/Music Shows including the 'Rangapioja'; 'Peacocks in the Moonlight'; 'Entwined Renaissance'; 'Pushpa Love Anthem'; 'Boogie Woogie'; 'Stylish Stars'; 'Latino La Vida Loca'; 'Nach India'; 'Hip Hop Unlimited'; 'Alayam'; 'Coins of Justice'; 'Peace and Grace'; and 'Choti Deepanjali' captivated the audience and earned widespread appreciation.

School Head Boy Albin Rino delivered the vote of thanks, bringing the event to a close.
