Principal’s Day Celebration: Honouring Fr Mathew Kalappurayil CMI

On 24th September 2024, Silver Hills Public School Kozhikode celebrated Principal’s Day with warmth, joy, and affection to honour the birthday of Fr Mathew Kalappurayil CMI, the beloved principal.  Although his birthday falls on September 21st, the school has chosen this day to collectively celebrate and express our love and respect for his contributions to the institution, as his actual birthday coincided with the Onam vacation.

The entire school came together to celebrate Fr Mathew's birthday, with students, parents, and staff expressing their admiration and respect for him. The day began with a formal meeting, featuring heartfelt prayers for the principal’s health and well-being. A cake-cutting ceremony followed, with every class contributing thoughtful gifts as tokens of gratitude. The occasion was made even more meaningful with the presentation of a special video showcasing his life, achievements, and heartfelt greetings from students and staff.

The highlight of the formal meeting was the speech by Fr Augustine K Mathew CMI, Manager of Silver Hills, who spoke at length about the personal values of Fr Mathew Kalappurayil. He emphasised the humility, compassion, and leadership qualities that make Fr Mathew an inspiration to all.

Further words of appreciation were offered by Mr. Madhusudhanan, President of the PTA, Dr. Jeslin, President of the KG PTA, Ms. Aditi Chatterjee, the school’s coordinator, and master Albin, the Head Boy. Mr. KC Shaijal and Ms. Archana Sambath, staff secretaries,  conveyed the staff’s admiration for his leadership. Ms. Jyoti and Ms. Sinu Thara, faculty members,  also shared words of appreciation.

The most touching moment of the day was the surprise visit by Ms Chinnamma Francis, the affectionate mother of Fr Mathew Kalappurayil. This special moment, arranged by the PTA, with the leadership of  Mr. Madhusudhanan, Dr. Jeslin, and Mr. Binu brought tears of joy in everyone's eyes. Unaware of her arrival, Fr Mathew and the entire audience were moved when she entered the hall mid-program. The audience, especially the students, were deeply touched by this beautiful tribute to motherhood, and it offered a profound lesson on the importance of honouring parents and elders.

In his return speech, Fr Mathew Kalappurayil CMI expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone present. His humble outlook and deep sense of gratitude resonated with all, making the day even more special. He extended his thanks to the staff, students, and parents for making his day so memorable and acknowledged the love and respect showered upon him.

The celebration concluded with sweets distributed to the students, while the staff enjoyed a special lunch served later in the day. It was a day filled with happiness, reflection, and immense respect for Fr Mathew, who continues to lead the school with kindness and dedication.
