Silver Hills Public School hosted a two day Teachers Enrichment Programme
titled 'Preparation for Operation' on 25 and 26 May 2022. The program was organised by the Department of Education and Media, CMI St Thomas Province, Kozhikode.
At the core of our teaching is the child as an individual. The delivery of teaching constantly evolves with the changing times. Teachers are creative collaborators and our teaching techniques constantly coalesce into the new, indeed, the better normal. In teaching, there is a time for preparation and for operation. This enrichment program formed part of both.
The program began with Prayer Song and Prayer Dance at 9.00 am on 25 May, followed by the Welcome and Introductory Speech by Dr Biju John Vellakada CMI, Manager, Silver Hills Institution & the Secretary, Department of Education and Media, St Thomas Province, Kozhikode.
'Education as a Humanising and Transforming Process' was the topic for the session 1; which was lead by Rev Dr Jose Kuriedath CMI, Director, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kakkanad & Former Principal, Sacred Heart College, Thevara.
In the Session II, Renowned Poet Sri. P K Gopi spoke on the topic 'Atmavidyalayam'.
In the afternoon noon Sri Vijesh KV, famous Theatre Artiste, performed a musical - dramatic show called Theatre Beats.
The Day 1 programs were winded up with a speech about the 'CMI Academy for Innovative Education' by Rev Fr Thomas Thekkel CMI, Provincial, CMI St Thomas Province, Kozhikode
On the Second day, 26 May 2022, Rev Dr Mothy Varkey, Writer and Faculty of Theology, MG Seminary, Kottayam lead two sessions, christened 'A Service to Humanity' and 'A Manifesto of Hope'.
Dr Anirudhan P, Professor, Government Engineering College, Kozhikode and Former Scientist, BARC Trombay was the last resource person to speak with the topic
'A Teacher in Conversation with Teachers'.
Rev Fr Dr Biju John Vellakkada, Silver Hills Public School Principal Rev Father John Mannarathara and Campus Administrator Rev Fr Augustine Mathew gave leadership to the program. Teachers from the host schools as well as teachers from CMI schools at Devagiri and Iritty participated in the program. All the participants were happy to acknowledge that the the challenges and realities of education in the new scenario were addressed successfully in the enrichment program.
