National Reading Day

Silver Hills Public School celebrated National Reading Day on 19 June 2021 in honour of the Father of India’s Library Movement - Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker, the man who not only initiated libraries, but was in fact responsible for the cultural movement to advocate reading in the state of Kerala.  Since students these days lack the passion for reading, this initiative taken by the school seemed to be instrumental in bringing a positive change. The students were encouraged to participate in programmes like speeches, reading stories, reciting poems etc through short  video presentations. A beautiful song on Reading Day written by Mr Harshan, faculty of Malayalam and composed by Mr Ajay Kumar, faculty of music was rendered by Devananda of VIII A. Students even designed posters on the importance of reading and presented book reviews too. The students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed these online activities and it was indeed an enriching and fun-filled experience for everyone.
