Silver Hills Public School celebrated India's 75th Independence Day as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotshav’ on 15 August 2022 with true patriotic zeal. It was a day of immense pride and joy for the students, staff and parents of Silver Hills, having paid tribute to the national heroes and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation in bringing us freedom, peace, and joy.
In a special school assembly in the morning Col. D Navin Benjit
Commanding Officer, 122 Infantry Battalion, Territorial Army Madras Unit, accompanied by the school Principal Fr John Mannarathara CMI and administrator Fr Augustine K Mathew CMI, unfurled the national flag followed by the National Anthem and Military band. Doves and Balloons were released to the open sky by the guests to symbolise the spirit of independence.
Independence day celebration followed, with great pomp and glitter.

Unit was the guest of honour. In his Independence Day message, Col. Navin Benjit saluted our great freedom fighters.
"It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. It took hundreds of years for us to break shackles of slavery.
Independence is the result of very strong determination. Similarly, if you wish to become someone great or to achieve something great, you want to have that 'want' - the real focus, determination and desire - in you. Then only you will become successful", stated the Colonel. He proudly declared that we, the Indian Army and the people of India will defend even the smallest and remotest area of our land , till we fell down, on behalf of the tri colour flag.
The Principal Fr John Mannarathara CMI, the Administrator, Fr Augustine K Mathew CMI, the PTA President Mr Ganesh Bhat, noted painter and school faculty Ms Kabita Mukhopadhyay, Faculty , Ms Kavita S Nair, School Leaders, Ms Meher and Ms Naina Nair also spoke on the occasion .
The formal session was followed by poem recitals, songs, patriotic songs, patriotic dances and the staging of a docu -drama on Gandhiji's Naukhali mission.
Silver Hills Kindergarten celebrated Independence Day on 11 August with the aim of nurturing patriotic ardour among the tiny tots. Ms Arundhati, a school educator from the UK, was the Chief Guest of the occasion. She narrated the "Hare and the Tortoise" story to the little ones and urged them to emulate the tortoise's virtues by persevering until they achieved their goals. Fr John Mannarathara CMI spoke on the importance of freedom in his Principal's message. Ms Elisha, Ms Sarita Manoram, Ms Aruna Shivaram and Master Joel James Jomey spoke on the occasion. Mind blowing dances and songs with patriotic content were
performed .The KG Coordinators, Ms Sushama Mohan and Ms Archana Sampat organised the programme.
