Gold is just arm's length away

A special assembly was held at the school on 27 October 2022 to felicitate Ms Mini, (ASI, Juvenile Department, Calicut City) who has won a spectacular victory on the international stage at the 43rd World Arm Wrestling Championship (Masters) in Turkey.  She is the mother of our student Ashwin Raj and of Amal Raj, a student of Sainik School.  Ms Mini won two gold medals, one each for left and right arm wrestling. As captain of the Indian Arm Wrestling team, she has done the country proud by securing gold medals, after a long gap of 42 years.
In her speech she spoke of her single-minded, rigorous training that brought her success. She made special mention of the support that her husband, Sri M Raju, (ASI, City Assistant Commissioner's Office), had given in her quest for an international medal. She quipped that in addition to parents supporting children to achieve their dreams, more husbands should come forward to encourage their wives in their endeavours. Her spouse Sri M Raju was also all praise for his wife’s achievements and urged the young members of the audience to take up more physical activities which would give them a healthy respite from the pressures of modern student life.
Ms Manju Menon, English faculty, welcomed the gathering. Felicitations were offered by Ms Jyothi Krishnan Unni, English faculty, Ms Anita Sumit, PTA, Joint Secretary and Ms Vida V P, mother of Aswin Raj’s classmate.  Fr John Mannarathara, Principal, addressed the gathering. Fr Augustine Mathew, Administrator, presented Ms Mini with a ceremonial shawl. Proud son Ashwin Raj, accompanied by his classmates, decorated his mother with the gold medals again.  The vote of thanks was delivered by Naina Nair, school leader
