EKTARA - A SONG SUNG IN UNISON

Ektara, the Silver Hills Public School Parents’ Day 2023was a combination of formal and informal events and showcased the fact that our big family is an Ektara, in which all together strum a single-stringed harmonious melody. The parents, teachers and management of this school have left no stone unturned to make sure that we give our children the best possible chance at life during their formative school years. The Parents Day was their way of showing their appreciation of all the good work the school has done for our children. The function was held after nearly 5 years, the last one having been in 2018 with a hiatus caused by the Covid pandemic.
The evening started off with a flute recital by Dr Namita beginning with Maha Ganapathi and ending with a cinematic number.
This was followed by duets by Ranjit and Rupa Deepak Gopinath, Reema Kelloth Sanil Kurup and Simi Kuttappan and Dr Baby Santosh and Deepa Binu.
The formal function began with a prayer by Rev Saju B John and Simi Saju. Suresh Kumar Kumar, convenor of the organising committee welcomed the gathering.Ganesh Bhat president PTA delivered the presidential address.The ceremonial lamp was lit by the chief guest Nitya Mammen, playback singer. She also delivered the inaugural address. The presidential address was given by Rev Fr Thomas Thekkel, Provincial of St Thomas Province, Kozhikode.Felicitations were offered by a Rev Dr Biju John Vellakada, Manager Silver Hills Institutions.
Mementos were given to Nitya Mammen, guest of honour Kirti Anand, dancer and to the Provincial, by Fr John Mannarathara, Principal, and Fr Augustine Mathew and Nithya Mammen respectively.
Special mementos where given to Chitra Anna Thomas, English faculty for coining the name Ektatara for the Parents Day, to Satheesh Unnikrishnan for designing the logo and to Vineet Sir who has, for long,  been training students of our school in dance.
This was followed by giving mementos to the teaching and supporting staff of the school by the Chief Guest.
As the evening grew dark and the stage lights shone bright, Nithya Mammen sang three songs including her hit number, Nee Hima Mazhayayi and Keerti Anand danced a semi classical number.
The dances performed by parents were Devam, Colour Squad, Lasya, The Daddy Troupe,   Rhythmic Ringers, Naino Wale  and Rhthmic Mantra. Skits Thiricahriv  and Vibafa were presented. Several duets were also sung.
The teachers dance Indian Kaleidoscope came in for a standing ovation by the audience. The vote of thanks was offered by Dr Robin George, Animator, KG PTA.
Ektara was the single-minded effort of seven sub committees who worked under the umbrella of the organizing committee headed by Suresh Kumar M. The committees were reception, food, finance, stage, cultural, law and order and media and publicity    headed by    Muralidharan K, Remil Aravind, Arun Kumar K Preetham, Aneesh Kuniyil,Sheron V S and Satheesh Kumar M respectively. The core committee comprised Fr John Mannarathara. Fr Augustine K Mathew, Mr Ganesh Bhatt, Mr Madhusoodhanan, Mrs Anita Sumeet, Dr Robin George, Mr Dinu K S and Mrs Somitha Anoop.
